JIM CHANNON - Keynote Speaker for International Remote Viewing Association 2010 Conference
The Conference will be held June
18th-20th at the Green Valley Ranch
Resort,
Spa
and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Green Valley Ranch Resort,
is only minutes away from McCarran International Airport and
the Las Vegas Strip.
At 8:00 pm Saturday evening, Jim Channon, Lt.
Colonel, US Army (Ret.), will give the Keynote Address at the IRVA 2010 Conference.
Described as a
cross between Buckminster Fuller and Walt Disney, he was the lead
futurist and educational technologist for the U.S. Army, and created
the First Earth Battalion manual. He also created advanced visual
AVL and the virtual reality exercise VRX.
Jim Channon, Lt. Colonel, US Army (Ret.), will present on the First
Earth Battalion, Task Force Delta, and his charge to think the
unthinkable.
Jim will discuss how the techniques he developed for
the Army can be applied to the challenges of remote viewing, including
improving sketching and drawing skills, and the capture of
perceptual data.

The First Earth Battalion is a mythical exercise of excellence started by LTC Jim Channon for the U.S. Military. Soldiers would plant trees instead of bombs bringing peace to the planet with a sustainable way of life.
Thirty years ago, U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Jim Channon announced
“he worked for the planet.” While at the Army War College in Carlisle
Barracks, Channon spent two years researching the value of the human
potential movement. He created a proto-mythology for the soldier of the
future known as The First Earth Battalion. These warrior monks would be
dedicated, first and foremost, to people and planet.
Instead of using machine guns, soldiers would learn to use their minds as a weapon and also carry baby lambs to the enemy with sparkly eyes as they would beam peacuful music to the enemy. Soldiers would learn Aikdo and apply natural healing techniques to humanity and nature. We would replace planting bombs with planting fruit trees; the new world would become a vitual Garden of Eden.
This alternative strategy inspired many new projects in pursuit of military
objectives; one of them became known as the US Army's Project Jedi. Remote viewing, PK & other
mind and body program techniques were encouraged to let them "Be All You Can Be", a well recognized military slogan straight out of the First Earth Battalion handbook. The ambitions of the historical US Army's Project Jedi is continued here today in spirit at the First Earth Battalion as the Wormhole Squadron located at www.ProjectJedi.net.
The First Earth Battalion has many facets including Operation Desert Stream (bringing water to inaccesible places) and Operation Nobel Stewart (plan for restoration of the biosphere) and others soon to be revealed. Baltimore Sun Finds First Earth Battalion Roots in Their Own Backyard. |

The Baltimore Sun posted an article about "The Men Who Stare at Goats" mentioning the role Maryland played in the events that inspired the movie.The article is titled "Battle satire 'Men Who Stare at Goats' has a Maryland link. It's strange but true. Maryland played a role in the events that inspired the military satire 'Men Who Stare at Goats' " - Baltimore Sun, Micheal Sragow.
The Baltimore Sun writer Micheal Sragow explains to his readers how many of the exploits filmmakers ascribe to Channon's Troops actually happened at Fort Mead Maryland just a few miles from Baltimore. There was also a phone interview commentary with Jim Channon about the First Earth Battalion and his view on the impact of the movie.
It seems in the interview Micheal received a glimpse past the movie errors into the real world of a Warrior Monk.
Michael Sragow wrote in the closing of the article, Jim
"believes that he saved lives in Vietnam by relying on hunter's skills
that could be considered psychic. And he feels ESP is "necessary" for
American successs in contemporary conflicts. "The secret of modern
warfare is, don't get into danger zones. You can't do that without
extended awareness."
So in the end, the entertaining farrago of make-believe and
scrambled history in "The Men Who Stare At Goats" doesn't faze Channon.
He compares his collision with Hollywood to "a 'meeting engagement.'
That's when two armies bump into each other and make a mess. The ones
that are quickest on their feet win. I've been quick in this case. So
far it has been an amazingly successful engagement."
